The Altar - St. Andrews

Besides the religious aspect to the Easter celebrations.  Floral decorations have additionally been very much part of tradition.  Easter time marks the start of spring and apart from using spring flowers, the Easter lily (Lilium longiflorum) is also used in the decoration of the church. The sanctuary colours for Easter being white and gold.

The flowers at St. Andrew’s were arranged by myself and various other volunteers from the Parish, some of whom are regular church flower arrangers.  Daffodils, pussy willow and forsythia were kindly donated from the gardens of each vounteer for use in the window decorations.  White lilies, lisianthus and forsythia were used in the altar and pedestal arrangements.

Bridal Bouquet of Roses and Bear Grass

Keeping enthusiastic and up to date with the latest trends is obviously vitally important when it comes to designing flowers for weddings and special events.  Therefore starting a club with a small group of other like minded florists who are passionate about flowers seemed to be a good idea.  So that’s what we are going to do!   We are planning to meet one evening a week and to use the time to exchange ideas, try out new techniques and of course have a good chat.

13th March 2010 -  50 Years of Marriage

Congratulations to Marlene and Lionel Whitefield on their Golden Wedding Anniversary on the 13th March.  A yellow and white colour theme of White Roses, Pale Yellow/White Alstromeria, Spray Carnations, Yellow Chrysanthemums and Gypsophilia was chosen for the table arrangements.

Four beautiful Cymbidium Orchids with Bear Grass were used to create the cake top arrangement.  The Orchids represented the bridal bouquet that Marlene had when she married Lionel 50 years ago.
